THE ARTIST
The story
behind the sound.
Anri made her debut in 1978, then found a defining 1980s sound through collaborations with writers and producers including Toshiki Kadomatsu. HEAVEN BEACH, TIMELY!! and COOOL move from coastal AOR to tightly cut boogie while keeping her clear, expressive voice at the centre. The result is music that captures both the optimism and the after-dark sophistication of Japan’s bubble-era imagination.
